REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL

In some of the affected vehicles, the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor may fail due to circuit

degradation. If the CMP Sensor should fail, the engine may stall. In the event of an engine stall, a

crash could result without warning. A new CMP Sensor with improved reliability is now available.

SERVICE ACTION

Dealers are to inspect the CMP Sensor to verify which design level sensor is installed in the affected

vehicles, and replace all prior level sensors. This service must be performed on affected vehicles at no

charge to the vehicle owner.

OWNER NOTIFICATION MAILING SCHEDULE

Parts to repair this condition are currently not available in sufficient quantities to service all of the

affected vehicles. Therefore, to ensure that an ample supply of parts is available, owners of affected

vehicles will be notified in separate phase mailings over several months. Phase mailing will begin the

week of December 17, 2007; prioritized by age of vehicle. Dealers should repair any affected vehicles

that arrive at their dealerships, whether or not the customer has received a letter.

Wonderful! bout time they did that, except I already have one of the new ones.... *wonder if they will refund me for all the ones i have bought* :P too bad they didn't come out with this recall a longg time ago,

I too already have a new one but could put the old one back in and spend time at the dealer waiting for them to switch it out.
NOT!.
But, I would liek to be reimbursed for the $100 deductable when the dam thing went out leaving me stranded the first time.

Just wanna say thanks for the heads up on this safety recall. I've got a 99 PSD that's had an intermittent full loss of power, just momentary, and then recovers. Very unusual, and very intermittent,only lasting a split second, but it was enough to make the truck buck.

My eng check light came on yesterday, first time in 112K miles.
Pulled the code = P0344. Surprized me, could have sworn it was gonna be a fuel pump issue. This forum saved me! Saw the recall, called the dealer. Had one sensor left, and dropped the truck off this evening. NO CHARGE! THANKS FOR THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!! Have a happy holidays everyone!
