I have a 2002 f350 dually with a six speed transmission sometimes my cruise works and then again sometimes it won't. I know the horn works because it works when I push the horn button, and the horn also works when I hold the cruise on button, down, and I press the coast button. Anyone have any Idea's? THANK YOU.
I had a shop do some work on my engine a year ago, when the truck went in my cc worked fine, when it came out it didn't work at all. Well, i vowed to never take my truck to that shop again since they wasted my time and money so I figured i'd find out why it wasn't working. i found the wiring harnes for the cc just behind the steering shaft under the hood, it was unplugged, i'm guessing you have loose wires. i hope that helps, my storyline was not needed but that's how I roll.

I failed to mention i had the cruise control recall done on my truck today and that was not the problem according to the ford tech, but then again it was three minutes till lunchtime and he was in a hurry.

I would definitly question that judgment. He could have been a flunky doing the little jobs around shop. Or he's correct.

The cruise control button horn trick is something only some trucks do. No reason at all I can figure as to why. I tore my truck apart chasing wiring issues when I noticed the exact same problem with my intermittent cruise. I was ready to just buy a clock spring and take my chances, but I bought an AE instead. One switch test later and I discovered my CPP was bad.
The Clutch Pedal Position sensor snaps over the rod going from the clutch pedal to the firewall and has the wires attached. Unplug the wires, remove the U-shaped portion that holds the sensor on the rod and pull it off. There should be one long spring on each side. Mine looked like several small springs stacked on top of each other.
My guess is you too have a bad CPP. It seems like the part was only around $25 at Autozoo and only takes a couple of minutes to install.
I had the same issue also, intermittent operation at first then it went out completely. It too turned out to be the CPP. Check prices at a couple of part strores as I found a significant difference in pricing
Thanks for the replies on my cruise problem. You guys were right it was the cpp. one spring was ok and the other was broke quite a few times. price was 40 dollars at o'reilly auto here in ky. I think that switch also affected my fast idle when the engine was cold. The fast idle works every time now, it was intermittent like the cruise. THANKS AGAIN
