Dealer overfills oil in truck

Took our 2001 F350 7.3 into ford dealer for oil change and fuel filter. We left and had a slight miss. Drove about 7 miles and noticed a large puddle of oil under truck. Called dealer said bring it back. On the way back it started smoking really really bad couldn"t see car behind us. Was running really ruff. Dealer said that the machine that put the oil in had stuck and they overfilled it. He actually said by quit a bit. They took out the oil and redone it. Cleaned under and on engine lots of oil. My question is what can this do to the truck. They said it would be ok we didn"t drive it that far but it worries me. It seems fine now did"t smoke and was smooth. Anyone have this happen or know if I should be worried. Would appreciate it. Hope this is the right place for this question new at this.

I doubt it hurt anything. The crankshaft was just whipping oil around splashing it into places it normally would not go. Long term it aerates the oil and can reduce its effective viscosity.

First... it isn't the dealer that overfilled the oil... it is an individual... one guy.... someone much like you or me but with no intelligence, pride or desire to excel.

Something I drill into my guys - check the friggin' dipstick... every time... without fail...

Common sense ain't....

I agree, if the operator had noticed the Gun or whatever sticking, common sense says he should have checked the dipstick to see how much or little oil was delivered.

Doesn't sound like you drove it enough to do anything bad. Make sure you keep note of it in case something starts happening down the road though. Hopefully nothing does though.
