did something stupid

was swapping out the GPR when i hit my socket wrench on the metal pipe in the picture below. Caught the relay on fire and welded my socket wrench to the pipe. I can replace the GPR but does anyone know what pipe this is and if it can be replaced? Also lost the air (assumming the refrigerant) that was in the pipe.

The pipe i punched a hole in is the one with the blue tape on it

Yep, considering that hooks right into your air conditioner compressor... you lost freon. I am sure it's replaceable yes. But you will need a complete charge, and maybe OIL too in it. (Not an AC guy, myself) Just let them know they won't need to catch any freon when they purge the system...

yeah thats the Ac manifold line should have it at the dealer. just fyi dont breath that stuff when its hot or burning like it probly was for a few seconds when you melted the pipe, when freon burns it turns into mustard gas and it will kill you.

Ford dealers have good pics with part # of that stuff. You may want to try a junk yard. Ford is going to be pretty $$$$$$$$. You really don't need the AC now so you could hold off on replacing it.

With the defroster going, the AC compressor will be running (unless you disconnect power to it), and I'm not sure I would want it running all winter that way. With the system open, you are also likely to get moisture inside, costing more $$$ later on.

Looking at the hole its maybe the size of a tip of a pen. Any problem with doing a very small tack weld on it to just seal it without buying a new piece?
