Does anybody have the Turbo Pedestal R&R instructions handy?
It's been a couple years since I saw it, but there once was a detailed set of step-by-step instructions on how to remove & replace the turbo pedestal. I don't remember if it was active content or an external link.
The dealership has done a dye test for me on my truck (it has 88k miles) and my oil leak is coming from the turbo pedestal. I am going to replace it myself on the 26th.
It looks rather straightforward, and I remember that I should soak my clamps and bolts with penetrant overnight beforehand. I would just like to avoid that nearly-inevitable stupid mistake, if at all possible. Did they determine whether it is the EBPV or the turbo pedestal O-rings. They determined it was my O-rings and after an unsuccessful fix, they used their scanner to test the EBPV and what do you think they found?

Re: Does anybody have the Turbo Pedestal R&R instructions handy?
New turbo pedestal is in! Took it for a drive and no leaks! Yeehaw!
Getting the rear v-band clamp off the up-pipes and turbine inlet was a chore. I put anti-sieze on it when it went back in, which was also a chore due to all the things that must be aligned simultaneously. There's an alignment pin on the collector that fits into a small hole in the turbine inlet.
The instructions say to remove the EBPV device before removing the turbo. It turns out this isn't necessary, but I only discovered this inconvenient fact because I rounded off the rearmost EBPV 8mm 12pt. Once the turbo was out, a few sharp whacks with a hammer freed the stuck bolt, and I was able to replace it with a good one, slathered with anti-sieze.
I used the opportunity of having everything out of the way to splice into the EBPV control wire for my future plans to control it with a 3-position switch (open, closed, and auto). I started this comprehensive wiring project in April, and now it looks like I won't get to finish it until next April.
I used the opportunity of wanting the downpipe out of the way to install a Magnaflow 4" system with 3.5" downpipe. My EGTs were noticeably lower on my test drive. One trick that served me well, since I didn't remove the driver's side intercooler tube, and the passenger side was proving difficult to re-install, was to warm the boots in a pot of near-boiling water for 5 or 10 minutes. Everything snapped right together with the boots warm. I'm not sure if I would have thought of it if it hadn't been 35 degrees F outside.
