Question driveline clunk

I have a 99 ford diesel dually,truck has about 128 k on it when shifting from reverse to forward or vice versa there is quite a clunk in the driveline. It does not do this when the truck driveline is cold. I had all three ujoints replaced but the noise is still there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

maybe the carrier bearings?? Mine is loose and shimmies a little

Try lubricating the splines on the driveline. Ford has a TSB out on this. Here is a article off the net that should show the needed instructions.

another vote for checking the splines.........Very common problem and produces the symptoms you're describing.
I assume engine & tranny mounts have been checked

y2k F250 7.3 psd Calif emissions, ext cab long bed 265/75/R16 E rated tires, 190k miles 4x4 (nv271 manual t-case) 7.3 #1247981 1/18/00 (forged rods), 3.73LSD, non-diode 4R100, Dp tuner stock, 60t 60e 80t 80e, high idle. DIY 6637 air filter, wicked wheel, turbo master WG controller, turbo lifesaver, bellowed uppies, 4" downpipe & exhaust, 203t-stat, triple pod glowshift gauges (egt, tranny, boost), Ride-rite 2330 air bags, BTS VB, Sports a Western plow when the white stuff flies.

Trailers:
I'm usually towing 1 of several trailers I've built.
15ft car hauler (1000lbs empty; 5500lbs loaded)
26ft deck over car hauler (2000lbs empty; 7k loaded)
36ft car hauler (Was tongue pull; have since converted into 5er'. 4500lbs empty; 14k loaded)

Thanks, i did do the slip yoke and it was quiet for a few shifts. the noise seems to come from the rear differental.I have not yet checke3d the mounts but will do that,though the sound seems to be different.

Without going into to much "tech", I gave my pinion about an 1/8 turn and that helped my problems ALOT back in the day. Seems after x miles, normal wear of the pinion races causes the preload to lessen... just sayin it worked for me, I know the crush sleeve is delicate, tighten to much and your going into your diff! PITA

Thanks cpuneck,will look into that. My nephew ( a young mec) suggest maybe shimming the axles as he thought that there might be to much play in the differential.
