eating water pumps.

Any ideas for why I'm about to change the second water pump for leaking in the exact same place? I bought a reman water pump from napa. After a few months a leak developes by the t-stat. I am going to borrow my buddies psi tester to see exactly where the leak is. I have the 203 t-stat and the billet t-stat housing. I can't see any cracks or defects on the last pump to cause the leak.

Thanks

Square oring just doesn't seal very well. Try using RTV and your leak at the thermostat will stop.

RTV on the o ring, with the o ring on the mating service or without the o ring just using RTV? Thought about trying RTV but wanted to aks first.

A little rtv on the thermostat housing with the o ring installed. Those water pumps cause indigestion, and are hard to chew.

I'll try the rtv next chance I get. And yes, even though I do my own work and my buddies NAPA will warranty this pump too, it is hard to digest and chew changing it again!!

where is your new pump leaking? You say by t-stat, where the sender screws in or the mating surface between pump and engine. Or is your pump leaking at the weep hole and your t-stat housing too ?
