engine codes no power at cold start

ok, i just bought my 2001 7.3 pds about 2 1/2 weeks ago. i got it home and it wouldnt start. fuel pump crapped out and i replaced that. now in the mornings or when not driven for sometime and the engine is dead cold it has NO power like it barely wants to move. i have 3 codes p1211, p1280 and p0541. i drove it to work today and while i was idleing it shut off. started right back up and drove fine. at heavy accelleration it seems like it doesnt have enough balls..........

also there is a puddle of fuel on top of the intake and cant find where its comming from. the passenger side valve cover appears to be leaking from back rear corner as well... i emptied out the oil into a bucket last night to make sure there was no coolant or fuel in the oil. didnt appear to be but the oil was kinda thin. so i put it back in... im lost im not a diesel mechanic at all. but have alot of experience in gas engines.

On the driver's side head, towards the front, there is a sensor called the ICP--injector control pressure sensor.

It is stuck into the head at a 45 degree angle. If you disconnect the electrical connector and there is oil in it, that sensor is bad and needs to be replaced.

That may be the P1280. The P1211 may be related, but check that sensor first.

Your fuel leak is most likely your hard lines from your fuel bowl, there are rubber fittings that hold them in place . . .they just leak eventually.

The P0541 is your manifold air heater either shorted or opened, that won't cause any problems driving as it is disabled unless you're in park.

Oh, and this too:

OK I checked it when I got home and the icp connected and it does have oil in it.

Also while driving home it shut off about 4 time while commingle to a stop but always crinkled right back up. When I was at idle it started running really rough so I pressed the gas and it went away. So I continued home and it bucked one good time like it dropped down to 700 rpm then way up to 3000 instantly like I was using NOS.

Also before I started having these issues while driving it didn't really feel like I had full power I mean the not like a 7.3 should have. If I gunned it to the floor it would accelerate but not very well. And I get 9 miles to the gallon on the highway. Could all this be from the icp?

Not sure. It produces an voltage response based on pressure, so if the sensor has intermittent issues, that voltage will jump around and the truck will react accordingly.

But, do the simple things first, replace that part.

what are you using to get your codes? you really need to scan it with ae or something similar.

you definitely need to replace your icp as RB mentioned. Your fuel leak could be coming from the fuel bowl drain valve as well. Need to get in there and try to find the source of the leak.

I am not too sure about your issue atm. I am not sure if a bad cps would have anything to do with your stalls, idle, etc.
