Question Exhaust flapping

Hope this is the right forum for this:

I have an 02 F350 I bought recently. It's got a funky exhaust on it. Down tube looks stock, 3 inch to 3.5 inch, no muffler, no cat.

My question is, why does it make this loud flapping sound when I stomp on it? Are my exhaust valves toasted?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Soon: 4.30 gears, lockers, 4in exhaust...more I'm sure

Check your EPBV, perhaps someone disconnected the rod from the valve, and the valve is just flapping back and forth.

I'm fairly certain the EBPV is working because I can hear it kick in during cold morning startups. I'll check it anyways.

With an open exhaust you will hear a flutter sound when you get on it .What you are hearing is the exhaust going thru the turbo. As the the turbo spins ,the vanes of the turbo wheel go past the exhaust openning. One then the next etc. You don't hear this with a muffler in the system. When I did my exhaust I thought my truck was blowing up.

Thanks Guys,

I was just hoping I don't have an exhaust valve problem with drawback.
