Now that the ULSD has been inplay for some time now and the fuel drain's have been going south and I have replaced mine,,,, not an easy thing for us Vaners.
Should I be looking for a new spare fuel pump?
Just what kind of miles might one get with the OEM pump? How many years?
Or is it more of the luck of the draw?

I think it is luck. I'm sure fuel quality has something to do with it, but as long as there is not debris in the fuel they should last. I had a friend who had something like 160k on his when it went out. But he had just started the truck and pulled out of the driveway and the truck just died! I suppose you could do a fuel pressure check but a spare is priced at under $200 so if your worried throw in a new one and keep the other as a spare.

Mine is 10 years old this week, and has 179,000 miles on it. No problems yet.

And yes it is D-Day,,, and for the next 2 weeks 65 years ago we where on the edge of loss.
Only by thinking out side the box and that the leader on the other side was not leading ... did we turn the tide from just hanging on to winning.
But back to the pumps, it sounds like that if I can get a new OEM at a really good deal that I should go ahead and get...
Thanks again.
