Gas instrument cluster in 7.3l (with mods)?

My cluster seems to have issues in that the tach, temp, and fuel gauges do not work. I have pulled the cluster and each seems to have a signal going to the plug and I can not find any obvious issues. However, I have run out of fuel more than once and the low fuel light never comes on (but lights up when starting). Is the light not independent of the fuel gauge?

Can I use a cluster from a gas model and switch out the warning light overlay? The gauges appear to be the same, just the warning lights are different (no wait to start or water in fuel).

This is just a simple flatbed work truck -- 2001 F350, 7.3L turbo, auto. No power windows, overhead console, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I can't see any differences in connections between gas and diesel on the wiring diagrams, so maybe the clusters themselves are the same with a different overlay. The gasser cluster may even have the WTS light on it, as it's activated by a ground provided by the PCM, so maybe the gassers just leave that circuit open.

If you can't find a cluster from a diesel truck, it may be worth trying a gasser if you can confirm yours is messed up.

Not definite info, but hopefully it will help.

Don't think so. The signal comes from the ABS controller in both gassers and diesels.

on edit: Maybe you meant the dial. A gasser would be capable of higher rpms than a 7.3L, of course, and possible the MARKINGS are different.
