Glow Plug

Hey Gents. My SES light has been on for awhile. So, today I went to the dealer for the recall on the cruise control wire harness. I ask the tech, about the SES light, to see how important it is to have it checked. He said, it would cost 120.00 to pull the codes. So, I told him not to bother with it. Well after he fixed the recall, he pulled me to the side, and told me he pulled the code for me, and said it has to do with the glow plug on the middle of the driver side( he didn't tell me the code ). He thought it was, probably a bad glow plug. My question is, how hard is it to change a glow plug, and how much do they cost? Thanks, Jerry.

Once you remove the turbo boost tubes, the valve covers are accessible .Then the glowplug is next to the injector.Blow all of the oil out from around it before you remove it so the oil won't go into the cyl.If you are going to do one, I would replace them all .They are not that exspensive.Or atleast replace all on that side while you have it apart.

I would simply ohm test them to make sure what he is telling you is even true or not. If you need to change them they are easy, just make sure you only use Beru plugs, they make the MC plugs, Bosch and others don't last. Cost now is anywhere between $10-$15 each, they have really gone up in price!! I would also change all of them while I am in there. But I would do my own troubleshooting first!!

Here is a thread on how to test them and no you do not need to remove the valve cover.
