Got water in fuel, won't start, lots of questions.
I use a blend of 'alternative' fuels in my 99 7.3. I was pumping more into the tank today when I saw water getting past my oil/water separator.
I think a lot of water made it before I noticed. But the truck won't start, a little bit of smoke, but nothing. It did start up originally. I started it because I didn't think a lot of water made it. It started and then smoked a lot, if I stepped on the pedal, it wouldn't make it past about 1200rpm, so i just let it idle another minute, then shut it off. Now it won't start, it will crank just fine.
I've got a dahl 151 water separator on the truck--its got a drain**** at the bottom. Every time I prime the fuel system, I go below to drain the drain**** and it has water in it, though the amount seems to be going down, so maybe I'm coming to the end of the water.
Can I just keep going in this manner? I suppose i could disconnect the fuel line after the pump and just pump whatever is in the tank into buckets, but I can't get past the truck not starting.
I have great flow after the fuel pump and filter, so that can't be it. It just isn't starting. It'll crank without a problem.
