7.3L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain Discussion of the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 1999-Up Super Duty trucks and Excursions. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. help 7.3 dying

i idle it up to 2000 and held it there for a few mins and it want to die and cut out and then u get back in it and its acts like there is nothin there and then just dies whats this mean i put a new icp in it and its still acting up i clean the ipr

Make sure your oil is full and is not to old and thinned out. This can cause similar problems. Also check fuel pressure. Looks like you had another thread going about the icp. I think your next step would be the ipr. What codes were you reading and what scan tool are you using?

my edge chip and it reading icp out of range low and now its reading cam sensor but it has a new cam sensor in it so i dont know why that would be showin i got to thinkin about the oil and i just ran out and look im about 2,000 miles over ya wow i thought i had 2,000 to go but u think if i change the oil it will work

I would definitively change out your oil. Address the cps issue before changing out anything else. Your tach should be moving up to about 100-200 rpm's while cranking. It is not uncommon to get a bad cps. You could also have a wiring issue with the cps wires.

ok thanks man i check for codes again and now there is nothin its running good but keeps cutting out and dies when u start to drive but iom goin to change the oil and c what that does but thanks i would have never thought of the oil
