There should be a sticker on the block that says hp and torque. It could be worn off though, (mines gone but my cousins is still there so i guess its 50/50 chance)

It depends on the year. What year truck do you have? My '02 has 250 hp and 525 torque, the older trucks had a little less. Look on your passenger side valve cover, under the intercooler duct. Look for an orange and white sticker.

Horsepower is defined by how Hard you hit something.

Torque is defined by how far you push it after the hit.

'99-up 7.3L stock HP at the flywheel:

'99-'00 with either stick or automagic tranny = 230 HP
'01-'03 with automatic tranny = 250 HP
Early '01 with stick shift had 230 HP. Beginning about October 2000 during the 2001 model year Ford upped the HP on the stick shifters to 275 HP. The hand shakers continued with 275 HP until the end of production of the 7.3L engines.

During the '99 and '00 model years, the crew at the International engine plant in Indianapolis produced the 7.3L (444 CID) engines for both Ford and International trucks. The engines were similar but not identical. The assembly line guys sometimes put the wrong sticker on the valve cover. The correct sticker said Ford and 230 HP. The wrong sticker said Navistar and 250 HP. So if your '99 or Y2K has a Navistar sticker that says 250 HP, you have only 230 HP.
