how to tell if my turbo is working properly??

i have a 2000 7.3 psd and the truck seems to work alright but i dont find that it has alot of power. i have not owned it long enough to tell if its lost power.my question is if there is a test to do for the turbo pressure or do i need to install a boost gauge?any help would be appreiciated

If you have a 0-30 psi gauge you can plumb in temporarily, you should see 15 psi or so when pulling a steep hill with the pedal to the floor. That's about all a stock PSD will do for boost.

thanks, where do i hook it upn and still be able to see the gauge while driving?

Tee into the MAP sensor tubing coming from the turbo outlet wye, and run the tubing up behind the hood and tie wrap the gauge to the windshield wiper.
