I've read the search results - Glow Plug Relay

Why, online and ebay, you can find a glow plug relay for under $25, but when I call Autozone and Oreilly they want $195.

I do have a relay and not a controller, correct? 2003, 7.3L 2wd

It's their "economic stimulus package".

No idea why they want to charge that much, but if you buy from Ford, you pay at least twice as much as the identical part from International. And when I say identical, i mean down to the International number stamped on the bracket.

Now that's just crazy. Does anyone know of and have experience with an International Parts house in Houston? Location? I see that there are a few, but all are over an hour drive from my home.

I just picked one up from Napa two days ago for about $35. Part number GPR-109.

When installing, take note of the various connections orientation from old relay vs. new relay. The plastic 'rib' between the connection terminals is the same shape on both, so it's not very difficult to connect the new one correctly. The only thing is once you've made the connections, the bracket will not bolt up to the two bolts holding it down. You will only be able to use ONE bolt, unless you can get enough slack in the wires to turn the new relay 1/4 turn counterclockwise as viewed from the top. Even with only one bolt, it seems to hold it just fine. Just crank the other nut down, or keep it in your glove box/console for possible future use.

It only takes about 5 minutes to change one out. Just make sure you unhook the battery so as not to cause electrical damage/personal injury.

Also, if for some reason you can't change out your relay and need to get the truck started when cold, use a pair of jumper cables. Either jumper both big terminals together or clamp one end to the battery's positive terminal, and the other end to the relay terminal feeding the glow plugs. I had to do that the other morning, before going to get my new relay. Let it heat the plugs up for ~15-45 seconds and it fired right up. Then disconnect your jumper cables, obviously.

$30, two weeks ago at an International Dealer. Not quite sure why you would buy one anywhere else for more money. The one from the Intl dealer is the OEM part.

WSIGO I installed a Napa #109 for $30 in my truck a few months ago and i was able to mount it w/ both bolts. Just hook up the cables to the posts they reach. It will work just fine.
I bought the NAPA GPR because I don't have a Int dealer near by.

My Napa GPR's lasted less than one year. I have had the white/rodgers for 3+ years now. Probably won't find that local though ....

tomjon For future reference. In case my NAPA GPR goes south soon. What did you pay for your white/roger GPR? Did you order it from some place or what?
I have seen a post some place about some massive GPR that will last forever... I think it is pricey though.

I can drive about 30 miles to an International dealer though, so probably will get OEM part if Napa part doesn't last too long.. NAPA is 2 miles away.

When you get tired of replacing relays evey year and decide to find a better one just order a STANCOR if you don't like their price do a search and you may find a better price elsewhere.

I had a Napa relay that cost me $104.... made it about 9 months on it. Found the Motorcraft relay from dieselfiltersonline and had it shipped to my door for i think it was $63. No more NAPA relays for me.
