Jasper rebuilding for Ford?

A few posts on another forum are stating that Ford is using Jasper to reman their transmissions. Truth or BS?

Scott in Ohio Jasper Remans At FOrd dealers

I heard the same thing ....I also heard a few years back they were complete garbage ......Fuller Ford quoted me a week ago here in cincinnati 3450.00 to do a swap in my 2001 F250 4wd 7.3 L with 60,000 miles as did two of the other big dealerships in town so they must all be using the same stuff...I heard several stories about japser being ok and then stories from expert mechanic / car guys who said jasper only replaces what is busted when they do a rebuild and slaps it back together .......I took it to a local two man operation who quoted me 2200.00 for a rebuild if no hard parts are busted with a triple clutch torque converter.

Jasper offers the same 3 yr / 100,000 mile warranty as for hummmm sounds like to me they are putting jaspers in....

I'm sitting with no truck now waiting for the final word from the tranny tech once he pulls the pan ....probably the diode issue but we will see...

come on guys ...........lets here some info I got shafted once when I bought the truck lol not wanting to get shafted again from jasper or ford lol

I bought a BTS and didn't have to chance it with Ford who gave us that wonderful diode in 01, failed to check the reman pedestals that had leaky EBPVs, etc, etc nor did I have to buy a doorstop from Jasper.

I am bumping this. as the question never got really answered. You guys are THE source for PSD info, somebody must know the answer. Smokey? Mark? Can you help an old redneck out? I would hate to think that I just put a Jasper in my truck without knowing it. TIA.

Come on guys lets hear it from the horses mouth...

Ok,

What I want to know is why is ford having such a hard time doing their own work on tranny's ...lol If this rumor turns out to be true you are going to have a bunch of really pissed off people......I'd like to take a hidden camera into a jasper shop to see what realy goes on. The guys I heard the jasper rumors from are PORTMAN fork truck mechanics who drive Ford F350 service trucks and obviously have alot of mechanical experience one guy was a GM service tech early in his career. He said he was averaging 30,000 on each tranny before swapping out to a jasper...reman...

I know my truck has a rock solid engine I knew better than to buy an auto tranny but you couldn't find one used with a manual in 04 when I bought it...now I know why farmers and people running buissness's were already having these issues and were getting away from these trannies as fast as they could ....

Anyone have any horror stories to add to this?

BS. Ford does not use Jasper. I sell Motorcraft Transmissions and Ford has nothing to do with Jasper whatsoever. Ford has a contractor that does not sell direct to the public. You did not buy a Jasper Transmission.

BTW, GM, Ford and Mopar all use contractors. Its very common. There are very few parts these days made directly by the vehicle manufacturer.
