News to me is the new PCM that addresses the problem...

Hmmm,,

A new PCM that adresses a problem ,that doesn't exist ....I'm all eyes if there is such a thing...

Just so we're clear ,,,no one is bashing BTS ...( they also sold their first unit at one time)...As I understand it to be ,,it is a good trans....

No but I am not sure it will interact well with the F5 chip either. I suppose it will cost me shipping to see if it does.

I think it is the strategy change from the early trucks to the later model trucks.

The TC lock flare is evident ,even with the F5 ,,one of the tests have been done with the F 5... the flair is from the TC lock speed ...

The chip doesn't affect the TC...

Is there a new PCM burn we don't know about?..

You can do the test without buying anything....

I know that my 01 Excursion had a 4 letter code and that became different when I bought a new PCM.

I might in a month or so.

From the Site ,,,this is the test....

Get on the Interstate and accelerate, notice and feel your overdrive shift point.
Then manually over-ride/cancel the over-drive; repeat the process of acceleration then once over 50 MPH engage the overdrive, notice and feel the shift point again, you will see that it will not have the "Shift Flair" problem.

Aklim
This is not the same issue, besides the fact that OBS has alot of differant codes and families. First you state a flash will fix, then you change to "I think", and blame in on a specific code. Yes some codes had issues that a reflash upgrade fixed but the not what the control addresses. Yes i have driven in trucks with a bts that have the issue. Yours maynot. Its all about how well its masked with slip. Its a hit and miss from trans to trans. Brian is good at what he does and is one of the best.
The E4 is a on/off commanded. The 4R is a PW commanded. The 4R gives the tuner a 2nd option while the E4 only has the one option. All tuners like to see the min amount of PW. PW= SLIP.
Ask yourself why you mod the VB? What does it do? The aim is to reduce slip by the use of shorter durations. 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 are not an issue, while the TC,CC, and 3 to 4 are. WHY? Go ask Brian if you must.
Iam not willing to add slip for the sake of shift feel when now we have another option.

Bill

Its just the last reflash for the pcm family.

If your trans shift feel is good the use of the control could induce a flair.
The 3 to 4 shift duration can be to long. You would/might have to increase the hole size
to get the shorter duration (less slip) to keep up with the faster TC lock.
