Exclamation Leaking in Dahlonega

I need a mechanic in the Dahlonega, Georgia area TODAY.

I'm visiting here, and when I cranked up this morning, fuel started pouring on the ground at the rear of the engine. It seems to be running into the valley from somewhere. The Filter is not leaking around the top, and the housing is dry as far down as I can reach.

The only dealer I know of is Chestatee Ford, but I don't remember thinking it looked like a truck place.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

One of the typical leaks for fuel on the engine is the water drain valve in the back of the fuel bowl. It is a simple fix that only requires removing 4 torx screws. There are two o-rings that maintain the seal. Here is a link to a repair article . If you are in a pinch just get some regular #202 o-rings. They will hold till you get home but the fuel will eventually eat them away, the correct material is Viton. The dealer will sell you a new valve assy, going price lately is around $65.

One other area to look is the fuel lines running at the back of the engine. They can chafe and allow fuel to pour out too. Usually it is the water drain o-rings.....no mechanic needed. You should be able to swap everything out in a parking lot in under an hour, having never done it before.

Fuel leaks from that area are pretty simple to fix, however, a dealer is going to screw you. I have heard all sorts of horror stories, like the guy that needed new orings and they told him he had a leaking injector cup and estimated $2800!!!!

Likely you need an $8 pack of orings to to fix the leak that is somewhere in the fuel bowl. This happened to me 2 weeks ago. Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines

If the dealer tells you anything over $200, I'd call BS.

Had it towed to Cleveland, Georgia, to Jacky Jones Ford dealership. (They were recommended by Cleveland Diesel, who doesn't do pickups.)

Just the drain valve. Took it right away, diagnosed and called me. Fixed it in about an hour, and took care of the recall, too. $200. I'm happy.
