Leaking at the turbo pedestal

Anyone have instructions or a procedure on replacing the turbo pedestal seals. I believe that is where my oil leak is originating. Is this one of those have to remove the turbo deals?

Re: Leaking at the turbo pedestal

Yep, turbo must be removed to replace the turbo to pedestal O-rings. Remove the pedestal to replace the pedestal to block O-rings. Make sure you know which ones are leaking so you know how far to go.

Might as well replace both sets while you are in there, it is a pain. I would also replace the EBPV seals, the stock ones are junk, the new version is much better.

Exactly what EBPV seals are you referring to?

Re: Leaking at the turbo pedestal

While you're there, rebuild the Y pipes and gaskets, as they are probably leaking anyway. I gained 3 lbs of boost when I rebuilt mine.

Re: Leaking at the turbo pedestal

anyone have directions for the turbo removal procedure? How about part numbers of the seals and is the stealer the best place for these?

Re: Leaking at the turbo pedestal

The Seal kit from Ford 2C3Z-9P466-AA First Ford Parts has it for about $115.00 www.1stfordparts.com/ And for the instructions try this link www.ford-trucks.com/article/idx/0/002/article/9903_Turbo_Removal__Wicked_Wheel_Installation.html
I have the same problem so I've been doing some research. Let us know how the repair goes and any tip would be great.

Re: Leaking at the turbo pedestal

I'm confused. Are you saying the pedestal O-rings are leaking or the EBPV solenoid in the pedestal is the source of the leak?

Re: Leaking at the turbo pedestal

I am not absolutely sure right now. I hope to do another cleaning this weekend and find out exactly where it is leaking. I did think however that if I was going to replace the pedestal seals I might as well replace the EBPV seals at the same time leaking or not. All the directions I have been able to find so far show a complete PITA procedure to remove the turbo and replace the seals.
