looks like coolant leaking from block heater

Have any of you had coolant leak out of your block heater? It looks like the block heater anyway (drivers side of block just below water pump). Should I suspect something else? It doesn't look like the water pump or anything else. How difficult is it to fix? Will I have to drain the coolant?

Re: looks like coolant leaking from block heater

I will bet that is your oil cooler that is leaking.

Re: looks like coolant leaking from block heater

Is that what that is, I only looked for a second and assumed it was the block heater. Would that leak coolant though? I thought that would leak oil.

Re: looks like coolant leaking from block heater

Our trucks use coolant to cool the oil. (fluid to fluid cooler) I believe mine is also leaking. Never have seen it drip or leak, but I've had to plug it in the past week cause of temps here in the deep south (freekin 20's) I've needed to replace my ORIGINAL glow plugs now for months, but it's been warm enough to start it. Now I turn on my plug ~ 3 hours prior to departure and every morning I see like 2 drops of water on the ground. Looked up there tonight and I can see evidence of water on the oil cooler where it bolts to the engine on the drivers side front.

Why would it leak when using the heater, and not leak any other time

Re: looks like coolant leaking from block heater

I've also heard about an EGR cooler, where is that?

Re: looks like coolant leaking from block heater

Hmmm.... sounds like that may be related to muffler bearings

I've never heard of that, since I can easily get my exhaust gas past 1200 degrees

[/ QUOTE ]Nope, I believe they have a EGR cooler on the 6.0 L PSD.

FordFan73 which truck are you talking about?
