Need help, just lost a bolt!!!

I was installing my new exhaust and took the nut off of the clamp that holds the down pipe to the turbo, and lost the bolt some where. Now I can't find it, and I really don't know where it ended up. Just called Ford and they said, it will cost $25.00, and will get it in a day. Man I am pissed........you guys have any helpful hints on how to tackle this once I get the new clamp? Thanks alot.

Re: Need help, just lost a bolt!!!

It is probably sitting in the valley at the back of the engine or it rolled and is sitting on top of the transmission. Get a flash light and start looking. One of those magnets on a telescoping pole like you find at Autozone might help.

Also see if you can feel around the top of the transmission with your hand.

I have tried all of that, and still can't seem to find it!! I guess I'll have to order a new one.

Re: Need help, just lost a bolt!!!

On top of the tranny!! Hopefully I can find the nut now. It's always something. If not I'll have to run to Advanced Auto to see if they have anything. Already tried Home Depot, and they did not have anything.

Re: Need help, just lost a bolt!!!

When I lost the same nut I tried the big stores (ie...Hoe Depot and Lowes) with no luck. If you have a small Local Hardware store (Handyman, Ace Hardware, etc...)try them. I shop at the big stores all the time but I normally have to go the small stores to find the odd sized nuts and bolts. We have three different small shops within about 15 miles of me (owned by different people) and all three of them cary the odd sized stuff. Don't know why the big stores don't stock 'em......but normally they don't.

Glad to hear that you found the bolt.

Good luck with it.
