new to me 02 450

I haven't had this truck too long. Thanks to the help of the guys listed in my sig, it is becoming a really good tow rig. I've only got a couple of problems left to address and thought I might ask the collective wisdom for some input
I have an intermittent hard start after sitting more than a few hours. It doesn't do it every time, but occasionally it does. Watching the ICP with the AE software, I see when it's hard to start there is no HP oil pressure. Once the pressure builds it starts immediately. Any time I have a hard start, it is followed by a pretty good cloud of blue (not white) smoke that smells like oil.
My other problem is oil consumption. This thing uses about 1 gallon of oil in 1000 miles. I checked the fuel in the filter bowl and it appears dark like it is getting oil in it. I changed the oil and the fuel in the cannister looked a little cleaner until the oil started to darken up then the fuel started looking dark again.
I feel pretty certain I have injector o-ring problems. I didn't expect this on an 02, but from what I have read, it is possible in all years. On the AE software, I have a slight change in rotational velocity for number 4 and number 8. 2% or so. All the others fluctuate betwee. .5 and 0. Cylinder contribution test and buzz test show no problems.
Should I look for any injector problems while they are out? Should I just put on new o-rings and put them back in? Is there any way to make sure this is an external injector o-ring problem and not internal?
Thanks for any help.

Well I tore into the engine tonight. I pulled all eight injector. I only found one that had an obvious bad injector o-ring, but it was definitely the problem.
I have a small oil leak in the valley. I thought it was the turbo pedestal, but that was not it. It was coming from the HPOP, but I couldn't see where. I went ahead and pulled the HPOP and it looks like the IPR is leaking. Should I go ahead and ge a new IPR, or just replace the orings? I don't think there is anything wrong with the functionality of the IPR, I just think it is leaking.
