No power on startup

My brother just bought a 2001 excursion PSD and now once in awhile (2-3 times a week) his wife will start up and go to pull out the drive way and when she hits the throttle not much happens. If you sit and hit the throttle a few times it cleaers up. So back to the dealer (they bought it used from a ford dealer) and they can't find any codes and of course it wont do it for them! I dont think they sell many PSD's
I asked her if it smoked and she said she didn't know
I thought maybe stuck EBV but not sure. It is not very cold but when it does it,its always first thing in the morning when the temp was usually in the low 40s.
Any ideas?
It is still sitting at the dealer getting fixed up from the rollback ride. When the dealer came to pick it up on a rollback the cable snapped when the rollback was almost level and it rolled right off the back! They are treating them right though, new driveshaft, exaust, running boards, hitch etc,the only thing my brother is worried about is any shock the rear input bearing may have taken when the driveshaft hit the truck bed.

Re: No power on startup

Could be the pedal assembly too. Just keep checking off the list of possibilities.
