No WTS light and no go...not the CPS

Hey gang-

I have a 2000 F-350...no major mods or add-ons.

I left the house this morning and while driving the engine just shut down. No warning, no bucking, nothing. I was able to throw into Neutral and coast to a side street. I have replaced the CPS once before and had the recall done about a year ago. However owning a PSD, I had a spare in the glove box. Thinking this was the problem, I swapped out the CPS, still no luck.

The truck will start, but not turn over. I did notice that the WTS light does not come on. I also have a glow plug relay indicator light, and that does not come on either. I checked the PCM fuse, #24 and PCM relay, #30, actually replaced the relay, and this did nothing either. The fuse for the glow plug relay indicator, 1 amp, is not blown either.

Unfortunately the code reader that I purchased a while back does not work on the diesel truck and I do not have access to another reader...so I don't have codes..sorry.

Any ideas on where to start looking next?

Thanks again!!

Did you mean you checked FUSE #30 (under the inst panel)? That's the one that controls the PCM and IDM Power relays, and also powers the fuel heater. I had the fuel heater short out on my truck and fuse #30 was obviously blown. I was back on the road after unplugging the fuel heater and replacing the fuse.

I also assume that you mean the starter will operate, but the engine won't start when you said "The truck will start, but not turn over." I'm usually hearing that as - the engine will crank (or turn over), but not start.

ROTFL

You're welcome. Don't feel too bad. I swapped out my CPS when it happened to me. THEN I saw that the WTS light didn't come on. If I had paid attention, I could have been back on the road in 5 minutes instead of having to wait for my wife to run back to the house for a screwdriver to get the CPS out. After it wouldn't start with the CPS swapped, I was suffering from flat forehead syndrome. [we realy need a smilie of a guy (me) slapping himself in the forehead]

BTW, you'll want to check out my "Fuel Heater fixed" thread.
