power distribution box pcm

I keep blowing #24 in the power distribution box. It the owners manual it is labeled PCM power. Does anyone have a link to the PCM wiring diagram? The truck won't run. Just got back form a 1300 mile trip with no problems. I haven't done anything to it since.

The only PCM fuse I know of for sure, is the one shared with the Fuel bowl heater. But I didn't think it was 24 unless they changed it for 2k. Unplug the fuel heater, (Back of fuel filter bowl, near the bottom) then replace the fuse and see if it blows again. If not, leave the heater unplugged, I ran mine for 3 years after it blew and disconnected. Otherwise, the heater is about 85.00 I think, from FORD.

NOW in my 99s manual it says that #24 is the "Power distribution box" FUSE, 30a. This is the fuse box under the dash, the one under hood #24 says it is the "Blend door actuator, trailer tow battery charge relay" 10a.

Fuse #24 (hot at all times) under the hood is the main power to the PCM, switched by the PCM power relay. It also feeds the transmission solenoids, IPR, GP relay, MIAH relay, fuel pump relay coil, and brake pressure switch on the master cyl.

You probably have a short somewhere in one of those circuits. I'd try unplugging the various connectors and see if you have a grounded output terminal on the PCM power relay. Either that or you could use up a ton of fuses.

Fuse #30 in the inst panel fuse box is powered when the key is on and feeds the PCM power relay coil and fuel heater. When that one blows, the PCM power relay doesn't pull in, and none of those things (including the PCM) get powered when the key is turned on.

Hope that helps

Thanks guys. It was a frayed wire for the IPR that was touching and breaking the fuse. Taped it up and good to go!

if you had a problem there, id check where the main harness attaches to the motor harness on the drivers side valvecover-underneath there is VERY suceptable to chafing as it contacts the valve covers-bend the bracket a bit to eliminate rubbing to avoid future issues!
