Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

I pulled P0470 - exhaust back pressure sensor ciruit error
and P0478 - exhaust pressure Ctrl valve high input.

Has my EBPV gone bad?
Is there a cheap fix like a sensor to replace?

If not, I'm thinking of removing it, and found some replacement parts rather than just gutting it.
Garrett Non-EBPV Cover Plate Mfg Part # GA-4512740005 and
Garrett Non-EBPV Pedestal Mfg Part # GA-7026700002 from http://www.longislandperformancediesel.com/

Will I need both the cover plate and the pedestal to correctly eliminate it? Will this fix my problem and cure the codes? I also thought about a banks power elbow, but I already have a 4" turbo back downpipe and exhaust and I'm not sure if it will be conpatible?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Carl

Re: Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

OK, I found a EBP sensor eliminator @ http://www.dfuser.com/mfg/powerstrok...rs/Sensors.php

I assume this will cure the codes if my sensor is clogged/bad. But will I have any problems with the EBP valve sticking closed?

How can I tell if the valve is sticking closed, besides high EGT's since I don't have guages yet.

Re: Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

The EBP eliminator keeps the PCM from throwing the code you got.It will not fix the EBPV itself if it is sticky. You will know if the EBPV is closed not only from high EGT's ,but also NO power .I would replace with a non-EBPV pedestal.

Re: Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

See my post. These eliminators seem to leave some codes in the computer. They may not be able to be seen with std code readers, but with AE I seem to be able to see it. I am still trying to figure out if I got a bad sensor eliminator, etc?

Re: Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

^^^ interesting.

Today i cleaned the AIT sensor and pulled the EBP sensor tube to clean it and found that it has a hole in it!

Has anyone else had this happen? I assume this is causing an exhaust leak since it's coming from my exhaust manifold. Can I patch it, or do I need to get a replacement?

I am seeing the same codes and was getting ready to drop an email to support at dfuser.com. Have you heard from them? I noticed you have the stage 2 EBP sensor eliminator and the EBPV terminator. I only have the terminator. Maybe I need to either clean the EBP tube or get the eliminator.

Re: Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

Just a quick FYI: I had that first code and the hole too. I replaced the tube and sensor and it fixed it. The old tube was completely clogged shut.

Re: Pulled codes. EBPV? Should I fix or remove it?

NorCalDiesel, obviously the terminator will not make up for any codes associated wtih the EBP sensor. However, I have both the eliminator and terminator and am still seeing codes using AE. What code are you seeing? Onces associated with the valve or sensor?

I have been communicating with dfuser. I need to check the resistance of the terminator I have and send in the numbers to see if it is problematic. I will post back after I do that.
