Pulled injector, where did the fluid go?

hope this doesn't mean some bad. I pulled the #7 injector out just now. AE test pointed to it and when I unplugged it while running the idle didn't change. Pulled #5 off and idled went down. It was also ticking. I pulled it out expecting the suck out the cylinder of oil and fuel and I got nothing. Last time I did this I got a few syringes full. Where did it go and what does this mean? I could hear it draining when I pulled it.

I think I just found my answer on Swamps Diesel site. I hope so. They write

"r. If the piston happens to be
at top dead center and the exhaust valve is open slightly, the fluid
may drain out the valve into the exhaust manifold, so if after
starting the engine you have fluid leaking out the exhaust, this is
probably what happened."

Please chime in. It's making me nervous.

If you don't have a mouse hole in the piston or cylinder, I would say Swamps has it right. If you were to crank it over with the glowplug removed, I'm sure you would get a little bit out.

Thanks Tinman. Learned something new. I was all ready to evacuate a bunch of oil and fuel and when I got nothing, it scared me. Both times I've done injectors it's taken a few syringes. Less on the drivers side, I can drain the fuel out of the rail. Passenger side I can't get at it unless I remove the down pipe. I'll make sure to blow it out the glow plug hole before I button er up.
