Questions about installing new Trac-Lok
My LS is gone after 103K. Instead of installing new clutches into my existing unit, I bought the entire new differential case including new spider gears, side gears, and bearings from Western Differential. (F**d: $1275---WD: $374).
The shop manual does not cover installation of the entire unit..
However, installation of clutches requires soaking them in rear end oil for a period of time before assembly.
My question: Since I am installing the entire differential case with the clutches already installed, how should I lubricate the clutches? I could install the unit, close the cover, refill with gear oil and let it set for a day before driving it???
Do I need to worry about it?
Hopefully, one of the experts who follow this forum will comment.
Thanks in advance.
