ran out of fuel

I have a 2001 F250 and I ran it out of fuel. What do I have to do to get it to start?

I'd start by putting diesel fuel in it. (assuming you have a 7.3; don't see anything filled out in your sig so not sure what you're driving)
Then I'd drain the fuel bowl & change fuel filter. Turn key to on position for 30 seconds, then start it.

15ft car hauler (1000lbs empty; 5500lbs loaded)
26ft deck over car hauler (2000lbs empty; 7k loaded)
36ft car hauler (Was tongue pull; have since converted into 5er'. 4500lbs empty; 14k loaded)

that's basically it. Cycling the key twice may help, but it should start up. And it will probably run a little rough for a little while until it works all the air out of the system. Usually maybe 30sec to a min.

Mine was an absolute pain to start when this happened - yesterday. But basically fill with fuel (I put 5 gals), cycle the key a few times to pump some fuel up to the bowl, and attempt to start (took mine about six tries - battery was already low). It'll run like crap for a few minutes while it purges the air out of the system. Finish filling it up and drive gently for a while - while the last of the air gets purged. Yup - I'm embarrassed too . Just got it out of thew shop and assumed (we all know what that means) that they had filled it before returning - since the gauge read full but the trip odometer mileage read like it should be near empty. Turns out the float is stuck after my baby boy's (16 year old) accident. Teach me to trust just one gauge.

And Yes - do change the fuel filter - if it's run low you have sucked the dregs from the bottom of the tank (I had some dirt in the fuel bowl that wasn't there last time I change the filters).
