7.3L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain Discussion of the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 1999-Up Super Duty trucks and Excursions. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 7.3L Power Stroke engine.

its up front, right under one of the pulley's, maybe the crank pulley, don't recall. you can get at it from below with a 10 mm socket and a 1/4" ratchet and extension

Mine is running fine with the gray CPS. I haven't noticed a decrease in fuel economy, but it did fail the #3 and #8 contribution tests (dealership tried to sell me new injectors because of this).

I'm switching mine out this week and see what the new scan will show.

Be carefull when you go to an IH dealer for a CPS, They have 3 different Part Numbers for those. You have to have the engine serial number for the correct one. Serial number is stamped next to the oil filter, difficult to see and read.

Parts man at IH dealer told me serial #375548 and lower uses the black cps. He referred to it as #99. 375549 and up use the new design. He has 2 blacks in stock($41), heading his way.
