What's up y'all, I have 2001 f250 psd with 166k miles on it, and lately it's been either not turning on and when I say not turning on I turn the key and nothing happens, my wait to light start come on but the truck does nothing, or I'll hold the key trying to turn it on and will struggle for a second then turn on. The last times I feilds up it didn't start then it would start when it felt like it.
Put a voltmeter on the small terminal of the fender mounted solenoid. If, when you turn the key to start, you get no voltage then you know you have an issue on the supply side. The ignition switch, the neutral safety switch (part of the digital transmission range sensor) or wiring. If you do get voltage, then you've got an issue with the fender mounted solenoid or the starter.
Also, next time it happens, try starting in neutral or wiggle the shifter selector to see if that helps.
I'll try that, thank you! Also I hVe put it in neutral and it worked then didn't
