sheared off front lug bolts

i sheared off 5 of the 8 last night. the 3 lug nuts that remained ob longed the wheel. i mac guyvered it back together and took it back to the shop that put new ball joints in it about 1500 miles ago (since pretty much anyone who looked at it suspected the lug nuts being overtightened). the lower ball joint is out and the wheel is ruined. the shop is going to replace the wheel and lower ball joint. no off-roading, etc. with the truck and one of the first times i had the truck on the highway since getting the ball joints replaced.

OK,,,,,,,,,,,,
IS there a question here? Or are you just venting? LOL

Sounds like the shop is taking care of you, FWIW, 1500 miles later they could say forget it. Could claim you have messed with the tire/wheel since then easily enough and you say this is the first time it's been on the highway...

Not dissing you, and glad the shop is taking care of ya.

Sheared lugbolts are usually caused by lug-centric wheels mounted on your hub-centric hubs. Very few aftermarket wheels for our trucks are hub centric, unless they are made by Alcoa or Weld Racing. Pro Comp doesn't include the spec for pilot bore (big hole in the center of the wheel), but I'll bet those wheels are lug centric - i.e., pilot bore more than 4.93".

i have had these wheels on my truck for 40k and have had aftermarket wheels on it for 70k. would it be wise to replace all the studs? i would prefer to do it in the garage rather than on the side of the road.

Ahh, I missed that he had aftermarket wheels when I looked at his sig, just thought the shop tightened them too tight, or even left some loose to cause it,
