steering straight

2003 F350 4X4. Bought this truck last year with 60K miles. Truck is just not a joy to drive like my old 95. It is not bad, but just have to constantly "drive/herd" it down the highway. Can not just hold the wheel and it goes straight down the road. Move the wheel a little to the right or left all the time to keep it straight. Does not seem to be loose, just never on center. Carried it to the shop for alignment guy to look at and he says wheels are ok. He suggest it might be the steering gearbox, but he does not know how to work on it. Any suggestions. I have read the 2005 thread about adjustment of the gearbox with jam nut. Is this what I need to do? It should not be worn out as the truck does not have enough miles to say that.

After multiple trips to alignment shops and 2 set of front tires, another alignment shop says "toe in" and why didn't somebody catch this by now.
Drives like a new truck.
