Tranny Flush Issues!

So I did the flush and I followed the instructions step by step, but I have some issues. First, I was unsure as to when it was the right time to shut off the engine, becuase I could not tell when the air bubbles came and went, so I stopped when I saw newer fluid come out, is that ok?
Also, I am not sure I have the correct level because when I check warm, it is not easy to tell.
Any input would be great!

Re: Tranny Flush Issues!

You should be ok, if you used a clear hose it should have been obvious when the bubbles started. The level can be hard to see on the dipstick, turn it in the light and look for the solid line.

Depends. If you got out about 6 quarts each cycle, then you done good.

There's nothing critical about shutting off the engine at the first big bubble. I let mine go a few more seconds until the outflow slows down to almost nothing. That way I'm sure the tranny pan is empty.

If you used all 20 quarts of ATF as the instructions say to do, then you're probably okay - provided you're not overfull.

I can't get a good check after I add ATF down the filler tube, until all the ATF drains out of that tube. That probably takes an hour or so.

I check mine cold, at least an hour after I've added ATF down the filler tube, when it's easier to read the "cold" area on the dipstick. Before you start the engine, pull the tranny dipstick and clean it up good. Then crank the engine and let it idle while you run thru all the gearshift positions, ending in park or neutral. Then push the dipstick back down the hole and check the ATF level.

Overfull is worse than not quite enough, so be sure you don't have it too full.
