Tranny , going, going .....goonne!!!

Turn off of a small country road onto a large country road, gave the beast some throttle let off a little, going down hill, at the bottom gave it a little throttle and CLUNK! Felt like it went into neutral. Coasted to the waist deep grass, a.k.a. shoulder, put into park. Got out to see if drive shaft was still connected, yeppper still there, got back in put tranny into drive nothing, got out lock the front hubs, put it into 4hi and nothing. Called geico roadside got towed within 45 mins. not bad leaving in the country. O.k. diesel heads what do you think???

Thanks for your input..

Re: Tranny , going, going .....goonne!!!

Sounds like new tranny time. Mine did the same thing without any warning. Lots of options out there from $1600 to over 5 grand. I stayed on the low end and so far so good. I later found that Fred Jones Ford in OKC will reman a trans a give a 3/36 warranty good at any Ford dealership for $1600 plus install.

They will only ship to Ford dealers though.

My experience with autos is to get as good of a warranty as you can. I think they are pretty hard to build right unless you know what you are doing. I had to have a chevy trans rebuilt 3 times and it still was not right. (Local Kottman Transmission shop)

Good luck,

Jay
