Transmission transporting

I will be transporting a transmission and I want to know if I should secure the torque converter in place. Or should I remove it from the trans and package it separately? If I should secure it in place what is the pilot diameter on the t/c from a 4R100 so I can drill a hole in a 1x4 to support the t/c? Whenever we transported an Allison we secured the t/c in place in this fashion. But the 4R100 might not tolerate this.

I Installed many BTS trany's Brian ships them installed with a bracket holding them in place That way if a guy dont really know what he is doing and is doing a shade tree install he dont have to worry about if the converter is all the way in place.

Re: Transmission transporting

I was able to ask BTS and they said to transport it installed but support it with a board.
So the next question is what is the pilot bushing diameter on the t/c so I can drill a hole in the board to support the t/c?
Second question is what is the distance from the t/c mounting surface to the bell housing mounting surface? So I know if the t/c has slipped out or not.

Re: Transmission transporting

No Denny I do not have the trans and t/c, that is why I am asking. So when I go get it I can have the t/c support board made up and ready to go. But I stayed at a Holliday Inn express last night. lol
dd99 that would be great if you could get a size for me.
