I've read a few post on this topic on this board. The usual recommendation is to drain the tank, replace the filters, run a tank of diesel with additive afterwards.
On other boards I am hearing old timmers tell people to just throw in a quart of heavy weight motor oil and drive on or maybe a can of additive instead of the oil.
I just read a post from someone who took that advice. He drove from Las Vegas to Phoenix on a tank of unleaded with an additive added. He then took the motorhome in to the mechanic and had an oil analysis and had his injectors tested. He says it runs and tests just like a brand new diesel engine.
Does the engine oil lower the flash point of the gasoline?
Any truth to any of this? I trust you guys a lot more than I trust those old timmers.
Nate

Re: Unleaded Gasoline in the tank of a Diesel truck
Uh, no. Drain and fill with diesel and lubricity additive.

No diesel at the moment due to lack of funds (thanks Ford/SLTS).
Re: Unleaded Gasoline in the tank of a Diesel truck
Thank goodness it was unleaded...Leaded gas might have done some real damage ;-)

[/ QUOTE ] On a older pump type injection engine you might get away doing this but don't count on it.
On a HUEI injector engine no way.

I won't be the one to gamble on this. Even at the current prices of diesel around here ($2.55GL). Still cheaper than a $5000 rebuild.
