Dont pull the driveshaft and lets see if we can narrow it down to a little bit closer of what it may be and causing the problem. Vibration can come from a number of different things. Here are some questions I have first:

1) is this a 4x4

2) where do you feel the vibration? front, rear, left side, right side?

3) do you only hear the noise at around 40mph and does it go away or become louder the quicker you go.

4) Is the noise only there when it is coasting or does it come and go at different speeds also

Sounds like of the rear deferential is going to need work.
I know that for my van there was much of what you are talking about when I would go down a hill or slow down.
Just an idea.

The exact same thing happened to my truck and it was the u-joints in the driveshaft. I took it to a driveline shop for new u-joints, bearing, and balancing. Make sure to use greaseable u-joints if this is the problem. Good luck

Rear most U-joint near the rear of the truck. Pull the entire driveshaft, have all the u-joints and carrier bearing replaced and have the shop re-balance the entire driveshaft. Sometimes the saddle clamps will loosen up on the u-joints themselves. Check the bolts before you loose the driveshaft.
