Water Pump out again?

Ok heres the story, about 2 months ago the water pump was leaking so i replaced it and no more leak. About a week ago i was driving home from work and the temp gauge was maxing out so i pulled over about 10 miles outside of town. Luckily my cousin was behind me so i jumped in with him and we went and got some water. We got back and there was no coolant in the reservoir tank at all and we put about 3 gallons in it to fill it. we started it up and couldn't find any signs of a leak anywhere.

Been driving since and its leaking a little maybe a half cup a day or so. A few days ago the water in fuel light came on (not sure if that has anything to do with my problem or not). Earlier today i was driving it pretty hard and stopped to get something to eat and it was leaking like a civ, and wouldn't ya know it was leaking out of the water pump again.

So i guess my question is has anybody had any problems like this before and is my water pump really out again or could just be the seal?

wish i could help. My 7.3 started leaking last year about this time then stoped. I noticed this morning it started again.

So do I change pump or see if it stops again?

Where did you buy the pump? Warranty? If not try a new Airtex from northernauto.com. IIRC about $110.00. Then, with the money you saved install a dieselsite coolant filter, again about $100.00. If by "out" of the pump, you mean the weep hole on the bottom then yes your pump is bypassing coolant.

Rainy Day, I hate to encourange people stealing threads but, I would not wait for or expect your water pump to just stop leaking again.

I took it off today and everything looks ok, i couldn't see any real damage to the pump or the seal so I'm just gonna put some permatex gasket sealant on the rubber seal and see if that works
