Curious if your clutch depress/stalling issues have been resolved. If you have bad injector oil o-rings(like I did) or the HPOP is not up to snuff, it will stall. You need 500psi @ warm idle to maintain idle or re-start. If you have already addressed the CPS and ICP, this is a good place to start. I just installed 2 brand new Alliant injectors(215.00ea. from Seattle Injector out of all places)also installed all new o-rings on the remaining 6 flow tested injectors. My truck was stalling when I depressed the clutch and would not re-start warm without a squirt of starting fluid. It would only start dead cold. While I had it torn down, I installed all new Motorcraft glowplugs. Even with the miles she fires right off...cold or hot.

I changed my orings, and the clutch stalling stopped, but it still bogs down alittle, sometimes not every time.

I have all new glowplugs, and it starts really well, nomatter the temperature. I have addressed the CPS ICP IPR and BPS.

I bought a rebuild kit for my turbo, and found both my compressor wheel and my drive wheel are destroyed.

My truck still smokes like a freight train, and I have stopped driving it until I had time to change the #5 injector.

I can hear the injector knocking loudly, it started knocking suddenly after I got off the highway from doing 70mph for about an hour.

When I changed my injector orings, i found a solenoid that had rattled all the bolts out, and i heard a knock then too, but that was injector #1.
I also found a faulty compression ring that had cracked on injector #7, and a ripped oring on #5.

Sounds to me like your LPOP isnt filling your HPOP up, but Im not expert on these motors. I know old school VW Diesels, if you ever had a question about those, I would know an answer!

Users RT, KLHansen, and ReefBlue seem to be the most active and know alot about them. Give one of them a poke, see if they might know They were right about my orings... for the most part.

I am all good now...running strong. I thought my stalling might be the HPOP again since I racked up 260k on this one and was having the same symptoms when my original failed at 500k....glad it was just the o-rings. Hope you are done with the injectors for a while after this run...

I installed a '84 Jetta Turbo Diesel into my '81 VW Caddy...will never sell. Love the old Dashers too...you just never see 'em

2.) all 4 brake calipers, pads, and rotors
3.) water pump
4.) fuel pump
5.) idler pulley
6.) alternator (oh-rye-lees every two years like clockwork)
7.) ICP

besides tires and filters, that is pretty much it. simple wear and tear items.

Only 128K miles as I have now retired and do not commute now. Just my local daily use, and all biannual cross country trips - I like it better than the cars for frequent month long vacation travels. The HPOP was replaced the first week I owned it. No other serious problems. Have replaced batteries twice, tires twice, the brake pads once, front speakers, wipers, but essentially I have personally just done the routine maintenance and it keeps rolling fine. Still on original cps. Will have to replace or fix the driver leather seat covering as is starting to split in one place. Plan to keep truck as long as I need a truck to support my activities (which is as long as I keep breathing).
