Where do I get a new...

Transmission filter and gasket? I just got my "Trany upgrade" kit (springs and valve) and want to replace the filter while I am in there. Also, can someone post torque specs on the bolts for the pan and internal.

Thanks!

Re: Where do I get a new...

Cant help you on the torque specs,,but there are two filters possible for the 99s I think. I know when I went to get mine,,,they said there were two listed,, different depths ,, so I bought both,,and matched them when I got mine apart. Got mine at AUTOZONE I think..Napa or anyplace should carry them. I belive the gasket will come with the filter....but is also rubber and reusable from the old one too without any problem I think.

Re: Where do I get a new...

Torque specs are:

Accumlator body bolts: 80-100 INCH-lbs.
Pan bolts: 11 FT-lbs.
Pan plug: 18 FT-lbs.

Note that the accumulator bolt spec is in INCH-LBS!!

Re: Where do I get a new...

The difference in the filters is that one is for 4X4 models with a deeper pan. I got mine at the Ford dealer, they were only about two dollars more than the parts stores in my area (I think that I paid around 19 dollars for it). I don't think that replacement of the "filter" is really necessary though, it's more of a screen than a filter (the box even said transmission screen). The pan gasket is a very good one (surprising that Ford didn't just put it on with permatex like the rest of the truck!) and is reusable. Hope this helps.
