My truck is making a whooshing noise when you get on the fuel. Basically the truck turbo sounds nice until I get to about half way into the surge... this is when a noise starts that sounds like air escaping from somewhere? I have recently had the engine out for a warranty oil pan gasket and rear seal repair. I picked up my truck late last night and no mechanics were around to hear. Any ideas? I checked all the CAC connections into the turbo and where they connect up by the radiator. could this be a wastegate actuating early? how would you adjust this?

Any info would be great... </div></div>
Engine warm or cold or both?
Does the power drop off substantially when you hear the sound?
Possible wastegate or could be faulty EBPV causing the noise.
Do you have any mods to the intake system?

Yep, for us too!
As Witjo said above. It does this when your accelerating? Or when you let off the throttle? Do you have the stock airbox on it? Or an aftermarket one? If it does it at WOT, and the noise is a pulsing sound. It is a bad thing.
Tell us more details about your truck, and when it does it.
I assume it did NOT do anything like this BEFORE you took it in?

Take it back and make them check it out good.
Get gauges even if you do not have a chip. It would help you in trouble shooting this problem.

The truck has stock intake, whoosing symptom present when cold or warm. The whooshing noise only is present when accelerating and the turbo spools up. There is no power drop off the truck continues to accelerate.
Before I would only hear the slight whistle of the stock turbo, now its whistling and when I am really on it its a whooshing sound. when I let off the throttle the whooshing sound dies off.
I seem to be having the same problem, mine will do it for the first ten miles or so then stop, it seems to have no effect on performance. But it is bugging me, It almost sounds like someone is blowing air through a straw in side my dash. can only be heard in the 1500 rpm range. startin to drive me nuts

Mine does the exact same thing, no loss of performance or anything, but its one of them things every passenger in the truck is thinking something is wrong and I wish I had an explanation other then guessing waste gate opening up.

OK, probably not the EBPV as it will usually have a noticable effect on the power,
sounds more like the wastegate is not operating properly, disable it by unplugging the red wire/tube from the solenoid and then drive/test again. just be aware that you can overboost with it disabled so listen carefully to determine if the noise is better or worse

Mine was doing this and I found that it was a hole in the tube running from the exhaust manifold to the ebp sensor. Just changed the tube and I believe it fixed my problem. Something you might check.

think stout99 has got it.
There's been a lot of chat about the EBPV system since the weather has turned! click here for good info
This is a pretty cheap fix, DIY job!

if the tube does have a hole in it, does it do anything to hurt the truck or a guys fuel mileage? Or if its pluggged what does it do to the truck? Also what should someone expect to pay for the tube?

My fuel mileage has been down for several years and with the work I've done lately it is back in the 17-18 range. Don't know how much, if any, of that was because of the leak. Truck acted pretty normal except for the ebpv operation and the display in the truck would say "freeze" when it wasn't very cold out sometimes. I just ordered a new tube a week ago and recieved it very quickly from the powerstroke shop. Ford wanted near $60 for it. It will cost you right at $38 plus shipping from the powerstroke shop. Since I was already paying the shipping I went ahead and got other stuff that I needed. I think it was whitjo that gave me this link for the part. Good luck.
