Hey, I am new to these forums but to get to the point, I am looking to buying a friend of mines 1999 F-350 with the 7.3 PSD, it has 175000 miles, auto tranny crew cab long bed. It has a 8" pro comp suspension lift with actual leaf springs not add a spring, sky jacker steering stabilizers, 36" tires, line-x. All of this is not even a year old and I helped him install the lift kit so I know it was put in right. he says he will give it to me for 16,600 dollars. it had a new tranny put in it he said, and it has been well maintained and hardly used to tow that much. Do you think it is worth the price or no?
I may have found one heck of a deal, but in August 2004 I paid $12,000 for my 99 F-350 4X4 supercrew shortbox with larriate package. I think it had 178 K miles on it at the time. It may not be an important factor to you, but from what I have read in this forum, the bigger tires and lift will devastate your fuel millage.

Sounds like he wants you to pay him for all his "upgrades", If you look hard enough youwill probably find a SD in the 99 to 00 range that you can buy for about 10 to 12K with that mileage on it and then you can spend the extra 4 to 6 grand modifying it how you want it.
I am sure its a nice truck, but, what kind of new tranny did he install, warranty? did he regear to adjust for the monster meats? have the unit bearings in the front been changed( tires over 35" eat these for lunch) and there $300+ per side. just a few questions you should ask.

Seems high to me for a truck with 175K. It all would come down to maintenance. These things can vary quite a bit from one area to another, so only you can say if it is a good day. I myself would not by a lifted truck, poor mileage etc... Have the BJ's been replaced? I think for this price it would have to be one Cherry truck. Depending on when in 99 it was built, some had a faulty air box that did not seal well, this would allow dirt in the intake so look at this area and the turbo fan closely. Early 99 also had smaller injectors and turbo outlets and a different CAC. I would do a little more looking unless you have. Bookmark this site as it is very helpful to learn about these trucks. PM me with any ?

Thanks for all the reply guys, the tranny was put in by ford, and it is a real nice truck but not cherry, it has a couple small scratches and the windshield is cracked. and no the gears were not replaced to compensate for the tires either,
