Is he going to come up with hydraulic hoses rated to a few thousand PSI? that's the only way hoses can be a few hundred dollars, I'll be fine with transmission hose like the truck already has.

Yes, But have you done this yourself,
Yes

did you do it the way you are going to tell us.
I used the parts listed. I'm not going to tell you how to do it. I'm giving you a list of parts you can use to do a first class job. I don't know your skill level so what you do with them is up to you. Some of these parts will need to be modified.

List price on these parts is about $250 bucks. If you have connections you can get them for less. You might check with PowerstrokeShop.com for pricing.

thanks for the part numbers
if you remember the labels that would be cool..always nice to have both, if not no biggie

what kind of lines are we talking about ? braided ss, or hard lines.
seems like i have seen a few posts talking about pullin radiators and reaching through condensors...later trucks must be really different , cause unless I am looking at the wrong part , my Early 99 cooler is just sitting out in the open on the bottom.

I have a early 99 , you are correct, our coolers are down at the bottom, lines are on top of the cooler, one line in, one line out, they are metal , then going to rubber for a short distance, then the rubber lines hooking back to metal lines under the motor, going to the transmission.

Thanks 444-4D for your time and effort, I will see if I can scare these parts up

I notice you have a 2000, does your fluid go thru the radiator, and cool on the way back to the transmission. I have a early 99 it is oil to air only. The reason I ask is do I need all these parts, I have read where some guys were saying you can skip the radiator with the 6.0 cooler and some did not like that idea, more cooling the better. So I was wondering if you fall into yes I go thru the radiator and yes I bypassed the radiator with the 6.0 or I go thru the radiator and yes I stayed with it. Thanks again, This has been quite an adventure

Early 99 work in progress, I hope

My truck was built about a month too early to get a cooler in the radiator. If it had one I would not bypass it. One of those parts would not be needed if you had a cooler in the radiator. I think the one not needed is 4C3Z-7B028-DA but I would need to look at my notes, which are at the shop,to confirm that.

I think we are on the same page now, I went to powertsroke shop , the total was 141.70 for parts plus shipping, not to bad. I f I had to guess we are going to be using metal lines coming off of the cooler with a section of 1/2 hose to connect to the cooler, similar to the way the 7.3 is setup except using the 6.0 1/2 lines ???? and adapting 1/2 to 3/8 under the motor to connect to the metal lines going to the trans, or are these parts running 1/2 all the way to the transmission???? no way to tell from the part descriptions. Thanks again for your time

You've got it figured out pretty well. A couple of those lines have to be cut and connected together. They don't go all the way to the trans, I have purchased some more stuff to run mine to the trans but I need to make a couple of fittings to do it the way I think it should be done. That hasn't gotten to the top of my list yet. You will understand it well when you have the parts to look at. There are some options on how to make your connections. If needed we can discuss that when you have the parts.

I can't say I was misled, but all I seen on the threads was the way most guys have been doing it, not the worst way, but certainally not the best, my original thought was buying the entire 6.0 setup back to the transmission which are , as you know 1/2" ,and then figuring out how to adapt them to my transmission, I am thinking that is the way to go unless what you got me doing is the same ???? What troubles me the most is why ford didn't screw the hoses to the cooler , Like the 7.3 instead used barbed fittings and clamping them on, I would guess thats the way they are I have not seen a 6.0 setup in a 6.0, other then the 1/2 lines under the truck. Maybe this way is better, but to me it is not. maybe easier to hook the lines up to the cooler, I hooked up everything before the cooler went in, I have a feeling I will be doing all the hookups with the cooler in on the new setup ????

ok tard time ,
but is the lil black cooler on the very bottom of the radiator a powersteering
cooler? No I haven't taken the time to crawl around and follow the lines but i was curious.

ok, the little black cooler on the bottom of the radiator is an oil to water cooler for the trans, the power steering cooler is the small cooler mounted under the truck. should be in front of the intercooler-radiator-ac condenser

which side of the truck do I find the trany lines running to the cooler?
Where exactly is the factory cooler mounted? I saw the powersteering cooler on the drivers side but can not see the factory trany cooler.

Thanks,

Fin

probably between the IC and the air conditioning condensor. ( or the radiator)
seems like the ac though , I remember some people saying they looked like a cat beat them up from the fins nipping..one guy dropped his bumper cause he had giant hads etc...
all hearsay, but a place to start.

Is the trans cooler out of the 2003 6.0 also a good replacement? I may have found one at a salvage yard.

Thanks,

Fin

Question ..........

I've got my 6.0 cooler but can't figure out how to get my hands or wrench in there to remove the old one or install the new one...
Do you have to remove the grill or what ??? I can't see dropping the bumper would help...
And my hands looked like I'd been a cat fight after I tried for a while.
Surely there must be a simple easy way...
If anyone has the answer I'd appreciate it...My truck is listed in my sig..
Thanks
