With diesel at $2.45 a gal I'm thinking it may be time to put the extra tank on this truck, so I can load up when the price is right & have fuel available when the shortages start. Can anyone suggest one, prefferably that attachs to frame rails (as opposed to being in the bed). Where does the filler neck go on these.

I installed a 55 gal one from aero tank and it fit great, all parts were included and uses the factory fill location and gauge. Actually holds closer to 58gal if I top it off. That is well over 800miles of city driving. Katy bar the door and morgage the house at fill up time though.....
Transfer Flow has a 46 gal. that replaces the stock tank and uses the original fill neck and return lines. I have one and like it a lot. One thing to consider is that the original tank is on the left side of the truck. If you replace the original tank with one of the bolt in units that hold several more gallons you are increasing the weight riding on that side of the truck. I have measured the height of the truck when full and notice that it is about 1/2 inch lower on the left side, which is no big deal. I don't think that I would want a lot more weight over there though. I have a F-350 srw 4x4 which is a pretty stiff suspension. I don't know if it would be any different with a 250.
I ordered mine straight from Transfer Flow off their web site and they shipped it directly to me. I then installed it one weekend with the help of a friend. They also can hook you up with a local shop to get it installed if you can't do it. Good luck.
I went with another option Titan tank by Super tanks somewhere in Idaho price was around $675.00 delivered they gave me the dealers price and sounded like most get this price this was for a 70 gallon tank with all hardware and steelgaurd for bottom with 7 year gaurantee. It fit right where original tank was. I remember something about they would install it for free if I wanted to drive to Boise but not an option for me.
They do have an 800 number and web site but I don't have it in front of me at the office. Just another thought.
Thanx for the info. I have requested literature from Aero on their 30 gal tank that fits in the spare tire well with the fillerneck in the wheel well. That appears to be the simplest application and would evenly distribute the weight ( I can take the sandbags out of the bed)
