AFE Stage1 vs. AFE Stage 2

I'm new to the site and to diesels. Had a question on the AFE intakes. What's the real diff between the stage1 and stage2, besides the battery tray and what looks to be the mounting setup. Is one really that much better than the other for the $$$ ???
Thanks, Todd

Re: AFE Stage1 vs. AFE Stage 2

CTDIESEL1,

The filter itself is significantly larger, it also has a 6 inch (double check this, it's Monday you know) intake diameter, plus the Roto Moulded intake tube is mandrel formed and is also a 6 inch filter OD dimension. It's worth the difference for most folks if they plan any type of serious upgrades! Give us a call we stock the Pro Guard 7 Stage I and II's!

Re: AFE Stage1 vs. AFE Stage 2

I bought the stage II and am wishing now that I bought the AIS. The reason is I do not plan on adding a bunch of more HP and with the stage II I am now experienceing turbo surge and stall. I have it in stock setting now and I still am getting the stall.

I don't know if people with other systems are getting the turbo surge and stall. I wish I had an answer to that question before I bought the stage II.

Re: AFE Stage1 vs. AFE Stage 2

I'm considering either the AIS or the AFE Stage II. I would also like to know the surge/stall effects of both.

Re: AFE Stage1 vs. AFE Stage 2

I have the AFE Stage 2 and it works VERY WELL, almost to well. If I had to do it over again. I would probably save myself a bunch of money and buy one of SP Diesel Intake Kits instead.
