Better airflow...it protrudes into your intake and takes up about 20% of the space there, you don't really need it, it is easy to do (took me 5 minutes), you can by a plug that screws right in from many of the sponsors on this site. I bought a regular plug ($9 shipped I believe) from blackclouddiesel...then when I installed my gauges I bought another one from them that had a built-in boost gauge tap where I tapped for my gauge. It screwed right in also. Piece of cake mod. Better airflow can mean better efficiency/fuel mileage even though it may be very slight with this mod it was worth it to me Cons..??????? The mod allows air to flow through the intercooler more freely. I noticed some improvement in throttle response. Two down sides, if you let your truck idle in the cold weather for long periods of time this mod might be isses. If not don't worry about. Second, when you disconnect the AIH from the seleniod your truck's computer might through a code. Not all trucks do this, but mine does. It's not a big deal, the code doesn't effect the truck.

We've actually developed a code eliminator for those using the AIH plugs. Check them out here

I have never had a code either. I wish I had got the one with the built in boost connection now that I got guages, guess Ill have to just use the t line. Once you see the size of that thing you realize how much air it does block. I have pictures on my site of it, link is in my signature.

This is only on 99.5s and up right? I have an early 99, so I don't have this, nor do I need to worry about it correct? For a boost gauge, I'll just need to tie into the MAP line or whatever then right? Thanks!!

For those that would like to make their own AIH plug with a boost fitting, here is how I did it.
Parts needed (less than $5 total): Parts
22 x 1.5 metric plug (fastener shop, about $2.50)
1/8 close nipple (Lowes $.90)
1/8 female pipe coupling (Lowes $1.30)
1/8 fitting that came with your boost gauge (priceless)
PS: I removed my AIH, not so much because it was a restriction, but because I needed a handy place to plumb my boost gauge into after installing a relief valve in my MAP line. But, after looking at it, I'm glad it's out.

I just ordered the plug and code eliminator all so from black cloud. hope to have them by next weekend.
I just used a 10w 470ohm resister as a code eliminater (electrically replaced the heater element). Since I don't have a code reader, have no idea if it worked, but didn't hurt.
