The ATS housing works great to eliminate surge. And yes I took off the WW and put the stock one on and it does seem to do better. I have hit 24psi with Jody's 80T and a DIY air filter. I couldn't do that with the WW. I sure tried though.

Once you get the new housing, you will see what I mean by the inlet to the turbo is no bigger with the ATS housing than stock.

I have seen in pictures what you are describing, I just haven't seen a picture of the insides, Looks like the smaller area helps feed the air but hard to tell from the pictures. Do you have any complaints about the quality of the housing? I know I have read many posts that guys don't feel the fit and finish is a very high quality. I was wandering if ATS has improved their quality so they wouldn't get a bad name or if everyone is just accepting the product now.

Is the ATS 1.0ar also a good idea along with the ATS ported inlet?
I have the ATS in the box but I saw the ATS 1.0ar for around 200 bucks, maybe it would be a nice addition to all that I have, what do you guys think??
Too much lag maybe? I already have long gears 3.73 with my big wheels......

I have a picture showing the inlet, hopefully it is below.

I didn't have any issues with the casting. I also didn't have any issues with the actuator mounting tabs being in the wrong spot. It doesn't look as clean and professional as the stock housing, but it works.

Ok, the WW does not stop surge only because it moves less air, it's "MAP" is different. The RPM it could surge at IIRC. Also with the staggerd blades it can spool quicker, and only moves SLIGHTLY less air, not much for sure.
The ATS does not make any more whistle than a stock housing does I don't think. Infact with my stock wheel on I have virtually no whistle now. (Man I miss it too, I had an early 99, and had the ww on my last turbo on here.) But when it went out, my new center section came with a stock wheel, and my ww was damaged slightly. The ATS stops surge and stall because of the PORTED housing.

Don't you just love it when it starts "singing"!!??
I could not do w/o the whistle guys, it is music to my ears and gives my truck the attitude it needs.
I wonder if with the ATS shroud and ATS 1.0 a/r housing that I have coming will be even louder....jet engine anyone

If you install the ATS housing with the stock wheel you definitely will have more whistle.
Not a "cummins louder whistle" but definitely more than the ford stock whistle. It's not a jet engine whistle, but a nice noticeable improvement.I like it.

LOL, jet engine was a lame comparison I know, I was just teasing.
The wicked wheel will be even louder, it is loud now and I have the stock housing and stock air box.

I guess since I went from the Wicked Wheel on my turbo, to the stock wheel with the ATS I don't notice it anymore....

I DO miss it.

Did you remove the "foil" around the pipe? people say it makes it louder, I haven't yet,I wanted to buy another stock pipe and remove that one and keep my stock just in case.....on another note.....today I had some spare time and drove around changing programmer settings, I drove in stock mode and it shifted better and it ran pretty good for stock, when I used SCT it didnt shift good when in wot from a stop, the best so far was Superchips on tow safe mode. Why would that be?? transmission does not like the programmers apparently.
Any ideas??

I have the WW and it has a really nice whistle to it. I don't know about lost of performance. With my bts chip on 80E I can hit 35lb of boost all day and hold 25 to 30lb. This is on the stock turbo.

Seems a little high for me too but on stock mode the boost gauge move pretty slow and will get to 20-22lbs and moves a little faster with each advancement in toons. I had to install the boost relief valve from dieselsite.com so the ses light won't come on. On the 80e and 120 it will easily get to 30plus lb when getting on it.

with the wastegate connected I was lucky to get 16 psi, when I finally pull the red hose out, I started seeing good numbers and it runs better, it still relieves pressure when I am up there in numbers but it is not recommended, I have the Turbo Master to be installed soon, just waiting on my ATS ported housing...

Your pulling your turbo I hope?? It can all be done with the turbo on but the amount of time you spend messing with the little e-clip it aint worth it. All in all ATS housing and Turbo master make good boost on a stock turbo.
